Right Niche Selection

2014 is a competitive year for bloggers, Selecting an appropriate Niche is the most important part and basic requirement when starting a new blog. While choosing a niche, one should always keep in mind the high paying keywords. But if you want a long term blog, then you must choose the topic of niche keeping in mind, your interest & likes and not just keywords. You can always hire some content writers for your help and betterment of your blog.

Choose your Niche wisely, for eg- If you chose ‘blogging’ niche, then most of the visitors would be Bloggers, and they would never click on Ads. So it is quite evident that succeeding and earning with AdSense through ‘Blogging’ niche is quite tough. But at the same time, Blogging niche gives you high CPC, you can use Google AdSense if you have high traffic and it could be very beneficial for you. So think wisely in every aspect when you choose a niche.

Multi Niche Blog

Multi Niche Blogs always give you a better CPC than single niche blogs, because you can add a variety of content about different topics which includes high CPC and low CPC ads so your average CPC would be very much acceptable.

There are many benefits of using AdSense on a multi niche blog, like you would get better CPC and CTR as you will be having mixed audience. You can never run out of ideas and your multi niche blog will always help you to improve your overall AdSense CPC and CTR score for your AdSense account.

Avoid Link Units

As per my Research, Link Units always get less CPC, because it doesn’t have any kind of Rich media of the ads, but it always gives you high CTR, so it’s up to you whether to use Link Units or not. But I would suggest, that if you have less CTR then you must use Link units to improve CTR of your blog. And if you are looking for high CPC then I would suggest you to avoid Link Units.

Use Rectangular ads

Rectangular ads like 300×250, 336×280 or square ads of 250×250 works really well in terms of CPC, you will always get high CPC and CTR on these kinds of advertisements, most of the advertisers bid for Rectangular ads and Rectangular ads perform much better than all other kinds of ads.

Avoid Image or Infographic Content

Google AdSense is a contextual advertising network, so it is totally based on the content of your website and blog, if you place more text content you will get more relevant ads for your blog. Less images or media elements will give you more clicks on your Google Ads.

Avoid Other Ad Networks

Always stick to one ad network for your blog, and I would recommend Adsense is the best, so if you have AdSense then just stick to it. When you use ads from multiple networks you get less CPC for your blogs and your clicks will also get divided in-between other ads, which ends up giving you less CPC in comparison with Adsense.

Placement of Google AdSense Ad Units

Ad Placements very much depend on your blog niche, you will have to experiment with AdSense ads placement, and find the most suitable place for your Ads which gives you highest output.
